Beskrivelse: When West Berlin’s electric plant is finally rebuilt, the city lights up – on its own power for the first time. The film stresses the importance of US aid to maintain the city in its struggle against Communist domination. It includes a marvelous opening sequence with a "film noir" feeling. © Sandra Schulberg
A look back on the reconstruction of a power plant for West Berlin. After the Red Army dismembered and destroyed the old power plant, West Berlin depended on energy from the Soviet zone. In spite of many obstacles, such as the Berlin Blockade, the Berliners together with allied support finally make it and the new power plant puts an end to power shortage.
